Cheshire Show 21st June 2023

Once again the magic of the Morris defied the weather forecast and gave us fair weather for the Cheshire Show. We had two performances of about half an hour each, with a 2 hour gap in between during which we were royally entertained by the Macclesfield, Sandbach & Wilmslow Rock Choir and the Sandbach & District U3A Brass Band. Both (especially the choir) were excellent.

The first show performance, to the best of my recollection, consisted of Banks of the Dee (Fieldtown), Constant Billy (Adderbury), Trunkles (Fieldtown), Bold Arathusa (Fieldtown), Old Tom of Oxford (Bampton), Constant Billy (Sherborne), The Rose (Fieldtown) and Sheriff's Ride from the fair city of Lichfield.

For our second spot we started with a Valentine (Fieldtown) and continued with a set including

Lads-a-Bunchum (Adderbury), Lillibolero (Bledington), Ladies of Pleasure jig for 4 (Bledington),

Vandals of Hammerwich (Lichfield), The Upton-upon-Severn stick dance, Highland Mary (Oddington). and Balance the Straw (Fieldtown), finishing off with a Bonny Green Garters.

Two pretty full sets, all done well. All in a very good, enjoyable afternoon's dancing.

The following photos are courtesy of Alan Edwards, a kind member of our audience at the show, and clearly an excellent photographer. Thanks Alan.
